FORMER Liverpool midfielder and current Bayer Leverkusen Manager, Xabi Alonso, has praised Super Eagles of Nigeria forward, Victor Boniface, who netted a brace in their recent win.
The 22-year-old, who got his first national team call-up scored two goals for Bayer Leverkusen in their 5-1 win over Darmstadt at the BayArena on Saturday.
Xabi Alonso hailed the Nigeria international, who has now scored five goals and provided two assists in four appearances in all competitions.
“Victor is not merely a proficient striker, he is a complete player. And you can see that he gets along very well with his teammates, both on and off the pitch,” noted the former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder.
Apart from getting his first national call-up, Boniface was nominated for the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month for August alongside Xavi Simons of RB Leipzig and Germany-born Nigerian goalkeeper, Noah Atubolu of Freiburg.
He is expected to make an appearance for the Super Eagles for their 2023 AFCON qualifier against São Tomé and Principe.
