NEWLY appointed Bayern Munich boss, Thomas Tuchel has explained the importance of 2019 and 2022 African Footballer of the Year, Sadio Mane to the team.

The player has not made significant appearances for the club since returning from injury in February but was able to play for 20 minutes in Tuchel's first game in charge, as they crushed Dortmund 4-2.

“He scored 20, 30 goals every year for Liverpool and was an absolutely key player there. His quality is beyond any doubt," Tuchel told reporters.

"Even at his age, it always takes time to acclimate after a change of clubs. That can take time. There's no doubt about his quality and what it can bring us. It's about trust and patience so he can get back into the rhythm. A goal usually helps the confidence," he added.

The Senegalese will be in line to return to the starting XI when Bayern hosts Freiburg in the DFB-Pokal quarter-finals on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, as he would be willing to prove himself under the new boss.
