Thiago Silva to leave Chelsea at end of season

The 39-year-old experienced defender joined the Blues as a free agent after leaving Paris Saint-Germain in August 2020 and has made over 150 appearances for the club despite some injury setbacks.

CHELSEA's defender, Thiago Silva has confirmed that he would be departing the club at the end of this season after four years representing the Blues.

The 39-year-old experienced defender joined the Blues as a free agent after leaving Paris Saint-Germain in August 2020 and has made over 150 appearances for the club despite some injury setbacks.

Thiago, who is regarded as a respected figure in the Chelsea dressing room made it clear that this would be his final season at the club but hopes to return in the future in another role.

“I think in everything I did here over the four years, I always gave my all. But, unfortunately, everything has a start, a middle and an end. That doesn’t mean that this is a definitive end.

“I hope to leave the door open so that in the near future I can return, albeit in another role here. But…it’s an indescribable love. I can only say thank you,” Silva told fans in an emotional video posted on the club’s official website.

Silva, since joining the London club from Paris Saint-German has gone ahead to win the UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup.
