NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau hails Super Falcons

The Super Falcons gave an excellent performance during the football tournament as they were unbeaten in the Group stage of the competition but only lost to England in the Round of 16 on penalties.

THE President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has hailed the Nigeria senior women's team, the Super Falcons, for their performance at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.

The Super Falcons gave an excellent performance during the football tournament as they were unbeaten in the Group stage of the competition but only lost to England in the Round of 16 on penalties.

Gusau, during a media parley held in Abuja to mark the first anniversary of the present NFF board, praised the Super Falcons for their performance, which he said has contributed to the development of the women's division.

“We thank God for the performances of the Super Falcons at the last World Cup. It has opened a lot of windows to getting some responses from a lot of corporate organisations.

“Now they see there is potential in women's football, and they have started listening to us to bring in more money to develop women's football. That singular performance from the Super Falcons is helping us a lot. Very soon, we will see a lot of changes in women’s football,” he declared.

The President also made his goal known to the audience, which includes the Super Eagles reclaiming the AFCON trophy and qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup while the Super Falcons is to qualify for the 2024 Olympics.
