ONE of the highly rated football youngsters, Jamal Musiala has insisted that he is in no way trying to be like eight-time Ballon d'Or winner and 2022 World Cup winner, Lionel Messi.
The 21-year-old performances in the UEFA Champions League and German football league, the Bundesliga, as well as the German national team have earned him comparisons to Barcelona legend, Lionel Messi.
But when asked in an interview with Marca about fans comparing him with Lionel Messi, he replied: "I don’t know, I don’t think I can compare myself at all with Messi and that is almost an impossible mission.
“ I think comparing myself to Leo or any other player is in vain. I take my profession year-by-year and I continue working to try to be better and win titles for my team. Only then will they arrive safely.”
The 2022 German National Player of the Year nicknamed “Bambi” is seen as a future Ballon d'Or winner and contender but could find it difficult to replicate Messi's record of eight Ballon d'Or titles.
