COVID-19: US govt donates 200 ventilators to Nigeria

THE United States government, on Tuesday, donated 200 ventilators to Nigeria.

The Federal Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, representing President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, took delivery of the 200 life-saving ventilators from the people and Government of the United States of America to boost her response to the fight against COVID19.

 Dr Osagie Ehanire received the donation at the Premier Medical Warehouse, Jabi, Abuja. 

AlimoshoToday learnt that while conveying the appreciation of President Muhammadu Buhari to President Donald Trump and the people of America, the Minister applauded the United States for the donation which he considers "generous and friendly"; particularly at this time when the US is also being preoccupied with the global pandemic. The minister assured that the equipment will be judiciously used." 

The US Ambassador to Nigeria, Ambassador Mary Beth Leonard at the handover event stated that "the 200 ventilators being transferred today are compact and portable, and can be easily mobilized to reach those patients with the most severe symptoms of COVID-19".
