Abesan Estate has taken delivery of the first of the two initial containers to be used for its Waste to Wealth program, an initiative of WASTE Africa, an Abuja-based NGO with support from the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and British High Commission.

Recall that AlimoshoToday has earlier reported that Abesan Estate Residents Association, in conjunction with the Lagos State Ministry of Environment, has finalised plans to create an avenue in which residents of the estate would be getting money for their wastes that will be turned into wealth.

According to the association: "When this program starts fully in a few weeks, residents, mostly women and retirees, are expected to dispose of their wastes in exchange for cash. Trainings will be organised for the participants on the types of waste to be admissible in the program.

"This is a major achievement for the current executives of the Abesan Estate Residents’ Association(AERA) led by Elder M.A.O Kehinde, the president."

This program is aimed at reducing the dirty nature of Abesan and to stop people from dumping refuse at the School Bus-Stop.

The two initial containers to be used for the program will be situated at this popular bus-stop in Abesan.
