Abesan Estate Residents Association, in conjunction with the Lagos State Ministry of Environment, has finalised plans to create an avenue in which residents of the estate will be getting money for their wastes that will be turned into wealth.

According to the Estate Association, a non-governmental organisation that specialises in turning waste to wealth will be brought to the estate to train residents on how to sort their wastes.

The Public Relations Officer of the Abesan Estate Residents Association (AERA) Mr Olufemi Godman said: "The valuable wastes that you (the residents) have been disposing of will now be turned to money.

"The least price is N20/kg.

"Different materials have different rates.

"The unveiling will be done this year and as many people as possible will attend.

"This should put a stop to the presence of scavengers in our community.

"Meanwhile, it should be noted that the PSP operators won't be affected in any way as they will still pick your wastes that are not on the list."
