IGANDO ROAD ACCIDENT: Akinsanya presents money, Polio Hero’s award to families of deceased

In a show of solidarity to the families of the deceased, Comrade Akinsanya presented a cheque of N1.5 million and 2,000 Dollars to each of the next-of-kin of the deceased, while those alive but sustained injuries were each given a cash gift of 1,000 Dollars and N750,000 through the World Health Organization (WHO).

THE Executive Chairman of Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Comrade Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya, has presented cash gifts to the families of deceased ad-hoc health workers that were involved in a road accident around Alhaji Ede Bus Stop, along LASU Road, Igando, in the Igando-Ikotun LCDA of Alimosho LGA when they were hit by a driver who was at high speed on Monday, January 23, 2023.

Recall that during the accident, two ad-hoc female health workers and a man died immediately, while two other ad-hoc health workers and another man were injured and rushed to the Alimosho General Hospital for treatment.

The four ad-hoc health workers involved in the accident are identified as Barakat Usman, Latifat Akanni, Fatiah Dada, and Chukwuneka Chibuike. They were attached to the Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

The health workers, tagged OBR Implementers, were returning from the third-day Poliovirus Outbreak Response Assessment (OBRA) exercise.

In a show of solidarity to the families of the deceased, Comrade Akinsanya presented a cheque of N1.5 million and 2,000 Dollars to each of the next-of-kin of the deceased, while those alive but sustained injuries were each given a cash gift of 1,000 Dollars and N750,000 through the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Council Boss, thereafter, presented a Polio Eradication Hero's award to each of the families. 

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Esther Osariemen expressed appreciation to the State Government for the gesture, noting that “I was not even expecting any money. I promise to use the money judiciously for the children.
