Akinsanya flags off construction of 246 metres road at Oyisa, Igando

THE Executive Chairman of the Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Comrade Akinsanya Lasisi Ayinde, on Monday, May 13, 2024, urged community leaders, youths, and residents of Oyisa Street, Igando, to take ownership of the road before and after the construction, just as he vowed to continue to implement people-oriented projects and policies.

In the bid to continue to bring infrastructural development to the grassroots and fulfil the mandate of Making Lagos State a 21st Century Economy, the Lagos State Government has commenced the construction of a 246-metre road at Oyisa Street in the Egan area of Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area. 

The project, which is intended to improve road networks in the community and to help reduce travel time for vehicles and humans, was flagged off by Comrade Akinsanya on Monday. ad2e6c9c-f9d8-4df4-82cd-d5ad8f7cf8e5

In his address at the flag-off ceremony, the Chairman disclosed that the road construction is one of the numerous projects that Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has earmarked for rural communities in fulfilment of the T.H.E.M.E.S. Plus Agenda of his administration.

He reiterated that the construction of roads in the communities is a strategic effort by the State Government to engender ease of movement and to reduce rural-urban migration.

Akinsanya harped on the need for members of the community to ensure they collaborate with the contractor in ensuring the safety of the workers. He urged them to also take ownership of the project upon completion by protecting and safeguarding the road.8cab5aab-b427-46a0-a114-7e90852ef220

He assured members of the community that the road project is one of the many developmental projects that the community will witness.

The Chairman expressed his excitement at the flag-off of the project. He thanked Mr Governor for considering Igando-Ikotun in the implementation of his T.H.E.M.E.S. Plus Agenda.

Meanwhile, His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr) Nojeemdeen Abidemi Aberejo, Alakesan of Akesan Kingdom,  applauded Mr Governor for ensuring that the dividends of democracy reached the grassroots.

While congratulating the members of the community on the flag-off of the construction of the Oyisa Street Road project, Oba (Dr) Nojeemdeen Abidemi Aberejo urged them to partner with the contractor in ensuring a peaceful work environment that would engender timely delivery of the project.

Speaking on behalf of the members of the community, a representative of the community, Alhaji Waisu Atakan 10-10 assured that the community will continue to show appreciation by ensuring that the project is meticulously guarded upon commissioning.

Present at the flag-off were political appointees, Royal Fathers, party Chieftains, community leaders, youth Leaders, market leaders, and residents of the community.
