A 15-year-old girl has suffered emotional trauma after her 47-year-old biological father, Opepiyi Oyebola, sexually assaulted her by sucking her breasts and penetrating her private part with his fingers in Egan in the Igando-Ikotun LCDA of Alimosho LGA.

According to media reports, the incident happened at Emmanuel Akanji Street, Modina area of Egan, Igando, where they reside. The father, Oyebola has been arrested and charged with statutory rape by finger penetration and sexual assault.

According to the daughter, since 2021 her father has been sexually touching her private parts, sucking her breasts and over time, he used his fingers on her private part. She had been keeping it to herself because she was afraid to let anyone know that her biological father was sexually assaulting her for several months unabated.

However, sometime this year when she was unable to bear the trauma, she reported what has been happening to her to the Police at Igando Division. Her father was subsequently arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over the conduct.

After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is found guilty by the Court.

When he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP because of the nature of the offence.

Presiding Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Layinka thereafter ordered his remand in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the DPP’s report will be ready and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

The matter was then adjourned pending the outcome of DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
