THE Chairman of the Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Comrade Akinsanya Lasisi Ayinde, has rejoiced with Christians most importantly, the Christian faithful in the council area, on the occasion of this year's Easter celebration.
In his goodwill message on Sunday, April 9, 2023, Akinsanya said, “In the last 40 days of fasting, praying, and arms-giving that ushered in this Easter celebration, I am sure our people prayed fervently for our dear community, the state, and themselves.”
Akinsanya noted that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, which exemplifies humility, love, sacrifice, redemption, peace, and unity should be duly reflected in all for the sake of peaceful coexistence in Nigeria.
While urging the Christian faithful to put into practice the core lessons from the season such as humility, love, sacrifice, unity, and peace in their daily activities for the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ not to be in vain in their lives, he equally appealed to them to sustain their peaceful coexistence with non - Christians, be moderate in merry-making, and also use this period to intercede for the country in areas of security, economy, and peace of the land.
“We hope that God hears our prayers for continued peace, progress, and unity of the country. So, on this auspicious occasion, I urge our people to celebrate the hope offered by the significance of Easter because Igando-Ikotun is, indeed, the Centre of Peace.
“Happy Easter celebrations!” he added.
