AWORI DAY 2022: Akinsanya calls for promotion of Yoruba culture, language

The Igando-Ikotun LCDA Chairman also encouraged parents to let their children learn their language, and speak it at home and in their various schools.

AS the Aworis home and abroad gathered to celebrate their cultural heritage in Lagos over the weekend, the Executive Chairman of Igando-Ikotun LCDA in Alimosho LGA, Comrade La­sisi Akinsanya has called on Nigerians, espe­cially the Yoruba lineage, to promote their cultures and languages, saying Nigeria is blessed with rich cultures and languages, adding that Nigerians should stop referring to their languages as primitive.

He said, “Our culture is our heri­tage, our culture is our pride, and we must promote it. We should let our children learn our language; speak it at home and in their various schools.”

The Awori Day celebra­tion which was held at the Police College, Ikeja, was put together to celebrate Aworians, both in Lagos and Ogun states. It also involved all traditional rulers and other illustrious Awori sons and daughters.
