RESIDENTS of the Obadore community in the Igando-Ikotun LCDA of Alimosho Local Government Area were, on the evening of Wednesday, September 14, 2022, thrown into rejoicing over the restoration of power to the community after a period of darkness.

The community, alongside Igando and Akesan, were thrown into darkness about eight days ago, following the replacement of old panels by the electricity distribution company serving the area, Ikeja Electric. According to the company, the replacement of the panels is geared toward improving the quality and quantity of power being supplied to the affected areas.

ICYMI: ALIMOSHO BLACKOUT DAY 4: HOW OBADORE, IGANDO RESIDENTS ARE COPING

Despite this return of power, independent findings by Alimoshotoday prove that before this time, Obadore residents have not really enjoyed a regular power supply. A respondent who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the light was usually rationed, such that they only enjoy power once in three days.

"We are happy we have light back, but before now, we do not really enjoy power. The truth is that we only have light once in three days. So the next time we are expecting light is on, maybe, Sunday, and the light only comes at night and stays till the next morning."

IKEDC had, however, promised that after the replacement work, residents should expect an improvement in the quality and quantity of power supply. It is however not clear at this point if this would improve the power supply in the Obadore community.
