Motorists kick, as most filling stations accept only cash payments in Alimosho

THE scarcity of naira notes and petrol has continued to bite harder on the residents of Alimosho, as this issue has taken on a new dimension with most filling stations accepting only cash payments.

Motorists, business operators, and residents of Alimosho have decried a new policy at most filling stations in the city, where only cash payments are accepted from customers.

Alimoshotoday's correspondent in an interview with a commercial driver who plies LASU gate to Igando discovered that some filling stations no longer accept bank transfers or PoS, with the driver stating that he paid #400 to get #2,000 just to buy fuel.

"They no longer accept transfers or payments with ATM cards. I will not blame them too, because the network has been down for some days. The only thing is that they sell this money to PoS people who then hike the price. So when you're saying there's no money at the bank, you should not be surprised how PoS people still get money," the driver stated.

Similarly, a respondent said he learnt from a source he describes as being reliable, that the petrol stations sell cash to PoS operators. When asked to mention those stations, he did not give any definite response.
