MAN of the Match winner in the Nigeria vs Ivory Coast match at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Victor Osimhen, has declared to opponents that they won't be underestimating anyone.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria picked up a 1-0 win through a spot-kick against host nation, Ivory Coast yesterday, which saw them gain a high probability of qualifying for the Round of 16 of the AFCON23.
The Super Eagles will play Guinea Bissau on Monday for their last Group stage game, as Osimhen insisted that it is important for the Super Eagles not to underestimate Baciro Cande’s men.
“We aim for a strong performance against Guinea-Bissau. They will undoubtedly approach the game with determination, and we won’t underestimate any team, considering what they’ve done to qualify,” Osimhen said after the game.
“We met them in the qualifiers and know how strong they are. They defeated us at home, while we also beat them away. So, we are expecting a tough game against them. We will do our best to win,” he noted.
Jose Peseiro’s side needs just a draw from the game against Guinea-Bissau to secure a place in the Round of 16 when they meet at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan, next Monday.
