AHEAD of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers,  Nigeria football legend, Tijani Babangida has warned the Super Eagles to be wary of South Africa and Benin.

The Super Eagles would play the Bafana Bafana on June 7 for the World Cup qualifiers, with the South African side seeking revenge against the Eagles, who knocked them out of the 2023 AFCON competition in Ivory Coast.

They will then take a trip to Abidjan to play the Cheetah of Benin, who is managed by their old boss, Gernot Rohr, who has scores to settle with Nigeria after his departure as Coach of the Super Eagles in December 2021.

Babaginda, who won the Olympic Gold in 1996 warned the Eagles to take the game against the two teams seriously.

Speaking to Hot Sports' Toyin Ibitoye, Babangida said: "The match against South Africa will be more stronger, even though football nowadays has changed. Even Benin have the chance to surprise us.

"We have to take it more positively because we know what is at stake. We are Super Eagles, we are Nigeria, we have the players that can do the job."

The NFF are yet to appoint a coach that would take charge of the team ahead of the World Cup qualifiers, which has raised concerns among football fans.
