Despite a lot of Nigerians doubting the Portuguese tactician's ability to lead the Super Eagles of Nigeria to victory, Peseiro insists he will lead the team to fight for the trophy.

“We will fight to win the AFCON even though it won’t be easy. Our group is not easy because we are up against Cote d’Ivoire, who have a good squad and are playing at home.

“Equatorial Guinea reached the quarterfinal at the last AFCON, better than Nigeria, while Guinea-Bissau beat us at home,” the former Venezuela and Saudi Arabia gaffer said.
