CHELSEA fell into the hands of Liverpool FC yesterday evening at the EFL Cup final, also known as the Carabao cup final after an intense penalty shoot-out.

The game which saw both clubs go head to head in an all-out match would eventually end goalless after 90 minutes of play, and again ended without a goal in the 30 minutes extra time.

This led to a penalty shoot-out with Thomas Tuchel taking a decision of bringing in Kepa Arrizabalaga as a substitute for Edouard Mendy a minute before the end of the extra time given.

Kepa, who had shown inability in penalty saves in various and previous penalty shoot-outs, was called upon to do the job but unfortunately ended up saving none of the 11 penalties played by Liverpool and eventually lost his own penalty kick leading to Liverpool winning the cup at an 11-10 penalty shoot-out score.

Chelsea's boss, Thomas Tuchel, took the blame for Kepa's miss, insisting Kepa knew the plan that was in place.

"Do you think we do this and don't talk to the players? The players know the plan and we have done it before," Tuchel said.

"If you want to blame somebody, blame me; this is not a problem.

"I take the decisions and I don't take them to try to be the hero. Today it took 11 penalties to find the winner. And if you want to blame anyone blame me, there's no problem."
