EX-MANCHESTER United striker, Jude Odion Ighalo, has debunked the rumours that he bribed his way back to the Super Eagles teams after retiring.

Ighalo returned to the Super Eagles team and featured in Nigeria's 1-1 draw against Cape Verde at the World Cup Qualifiers competition on Tuesday, November 16, 2021.

At some point, it was said that the Al Shabab striker allegedly bribed his way back to the Nigeria football team.

Speaking with the Super Eagles media team as quoted by Allnigeriasoccer.com, Ighalo said:

"There is a guy in UK that said I paid my way to the national team. I was just laughing.

"I have never, even when I was not in this position I am, in my life and in my career paid not to talk of this position I am in my life now and in my career and what I have done with the national team then I will now pay to come and play.

"The guy tried to defame my character but I'm not the kind of guy that makes problems if not he would have heard from my lawyer.

"Everybody has their opinion about me I don't care but not to the extent you start saying about bribing which is very bad."
