FRANCE National football team has released the full list of players who would represent the country at the 2022 World Cup competition in Qatar.
As expected, 21-year-old Arsenal defender, William Saliba has been called on to represent his country, as he will be making his first World Cup appearance.
Speaking on the call-up, Saliba says he is hoping to replicate Arsenal legends - Vieira and Petit to become another Arsenal player to win the World Cup Trophy with France.
Asked about that history, Saliba replied: “Yes, of course, I want to be the next Frenchmen to do that, like Petit or Vieira. We will see.
“You know in France we have a lot of good defenders so that is why I am so happy. If I am in the squad it’s because I had a good start to the season with Arsenal. I am so happy and grateful to be in this squad.”
France, who are the defending champions of the world, have been drawn into Group D with Denmark, Tunisia and Australia. They would be competing as one of the favourites to win the prestigious trophy.
