Sadio Mane breaks silence after Senegal exit

SENEGAL forward, Sadio Mane has expressed his disappointment after the team failed to reach the quarterfinal stages of the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The defending champions were eliminated from the Africa Cup of Nations by the host nation, Cote d'Ivoire, in a penalty shootout after a thrilling 1-1 draw in regular time.

Mane, who provided an assist in the game, was disappointed that his team couldn’t move further but acknowledged that Ivory Coast were the better side.

“Football is cruel. The God of football was not with us tonight. We gave everything, we did what we had to, even if I think we could have killed the match.

"But that is not the case, and overall, I will say that the best won," he told Wiw Sport.

The Al Nassr forward is expected to meet up with the rest of his club mates for the resumption of the new season.
