THE Super Eagles of Nigeria's new head coach, Jose Peseiro, has sent a congratulatory message to the Under-17 men and female national team after they both qualified for AFCON and the World Cup tournaments respectively.
The U17 mens team, the Golden Eaglets, on Tuesday booked their ticket to next year's U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Algeria after defeating rivals Ivory Coast 3-1 in the semifinal of the WAFU B U17 Championship in Ghana.
The Flamingoes on their part are one of Africa's representatives at October's FIFA U17 Women's World Cup in India after securing a win against Ethiopia 1-0 on aggregate on June 4.
Peseiro in a tweet on micro blogging app Twitter said:
"Congratulations to both the Nigerian U17 women's and men's teams for qualifying to World Cup and AFCON, respectively. They are the future of Nigerian football and deserve our full support!"
Peseiro himself has a task to accomplish as he hopes to ensure the Super Eagles of Nigeria qualify for the 2023 AFCON tournament. NIgeria currently sits top of the table after winning their first two matches which included a 10-0 win against the Sao Tome and Principe earlier this month.
