Osimhen gets 2023 IFFHS Men’s World Best Player nomination

SUPER Eagles of Nigeria forward, Victor Osimhen has been nominated for the 2023 International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) Men’s World Best Player.

The 24-year-old player, who plays for Serie A club, Napoli, is among the 24 footballers shortlisted for the award, as unveiled by the IFFHS on its official website on Monday.

Lionel Messi, who won the award in 2022, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Antoine Griezman, and Arsenal's star boy, Bukayo Saka are among the nominees.

Also included are Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid, Mohamed Salah of Liverpool, Arsenal's skipper, Martin Odegaard, Bayern Munich's lethal striker, Harry Kane, and Real Madrid's midfielder, Jude Bellingham.

Osimhen, who was the top scorer in Serie A last season, with 26 goals from 32 appearances, was named Italian Footballers Association (AIC) Serie A Player of the Year for the 2022/23 season.

He is also in contention for the 2023 CAF Player of the Year award.
