THE entire Nigeria is in shock as striker Victor Osimhen could potentially miss out on the semifinal clash against South Africa at the ongoing 2023 AFCON tournament, taking place in Ivory Coast.

According to a statement by the team on Monday, the Napoli striker is suffering from abdominal discomfort and has not travelled with the team to Bouaké, the city of Wednesday’s clash.

“Members of the team travelled from Abidjan to Bouaké today (Monday) via a 10 pm Air Cote D’Ivoire flight. Osimhen did not, however, make the trip as a result of abdominal discomfort.

“Team medics confirmed that he has been placed under close watch with a member of the medical team staying behind in Abidjan with him. If cleared by tomorrow (Tuesday) morning, he will join the rest of the squad before 5 pm,” the statement read.

Osimhen, who has only managed one goal in the competition, which came during the opening fixture against Equatorial Guinea, has been one of the strong performers for the Eagles in their quest to lift the trophy.
