Osimhen claims team is yet to play their best football

NIGERIAN striker, Victor Osimhen has claimed that the Super Eagles of Nigeria are yet to play their best football yet at the 2023 AFCON tournament, taking place in Ivory Coast.

The Super Eagles moved into the quarterfinals of the competition after a 2-0 win against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Saturday, with Ademola Lookman scoring the brace that secured the win.

Despite the team's improvement in the tournament, Osimhen strongly believes that the team is yet to reach their potential as they still have plenty to offer.

“I cannot lie, we haven’t played the best of our football yet. I think the whole team has this mentality of winning, we want to win,” Osimhen told reporters.

“For me, we are more like a family than just players. So for me, it is important to have this mentality of winning," he added.

The Super Eagles will take on Angola in a quarter-final fixture on Friday at Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny by 6 pm Nigeria time.
