FORMER Super Eagles of Nigeria midfielder, Austin Jay Jay Okocha has named two African midfield masters he wished he played with during his football career.

The ex-national team captain was an exceptional player during his days with his dribbling, passing, and shooting skills. Despite the attributes, the former PSG player wished he played with some players who could help to handle the “dirty job” on the pitch.

Citing his former national teammate, Sunday Oliseh, Okocha named two other African players he believed could do the “dirty job” on the pitch.

“There are few of them because, I mean sometimes, players like me, you need somebody who will do the dirty job for you,” Okocha told Goal Africa.

“I would have loved to play with, I will say I played with one. You know that he was doing most of the dirty job, [Sunday] Oliseh.

“I would have loved to play with Michael Essien as well as Yaya Toure. I think he was a complete midfield player for me, not just offensive. He presses as well and used to do a lot of defensive work, but not that he tackles like Essien or even Oliseh, never used to tackle,” he added.

The 50-year-old made over 70 appearances for the Super Eagles of Nigeria between 1993 and 2006, winning the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations hosted in Tunisia.
