Messi wins Best FIFA Men award ahead of Haaland

The winner of the prize was voted by representatives from the media, national team coaches, national team captains, and fans.

ARGENTINA and Inter Miami player, Lionel Messi won the Best FIFA Men’s Player award on Monday night ahead of Manchester City and Norway striker, Erling Haaland.

Lionel Messi took the first position at the award, followed by Erling Haaland, while France and Paris Saint-German deadly forward, Kylian Mbappe came in third.

The winner of the prize was voted by representatives from the media, national team coaches, national team captains, and fans.

From the results, both Messi and Haaland got 48 points, but Messi was announced as the winner because more national team captains voted for him than the Manchester City treble winner.

Haaland secured more votes from national team coaches and media, but Messi received more votes from captains and fans, giving him the advantage over Haaland.

Last year, Messi also won his 8th Ballon d'Or by beating Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe to the prestigious prize.

According to FIFA’s rules, the tie-breaker for each award depends on the category.
