LIVERPOOL forward Sadio Mane's goal against Villareal at the Champions League semi-final yesterday means he has now equalled former Chelsea player Frank Lampard Champions League record.

The 2021 African footballer of the year scored in the 3-2 win that took the Merseyside kings to the Champions League final in what will be his 15th goal in the Champions League equalling  Frank Lampard’s record as the player with the most goals in the Champions League knockout stage for an English team.

The 30 years old striker in the second half also saw him overtake Didier Drogba's feat to become Africa’s highest goal scorer in the tournament’s knockout phase with 15 goals.

Should the Senegalese score again at the Final at Stade de France, Saint-Denin, he would officially be the player with the most goals in the Champions League knockout stage for an English team.

With Liverpool on the verge to win a quadruple this season, Sadio Mane as well as his team mate, Mohammed Salah, has been hinted for the next Ballon D Or.
