LIVERPOOL’S Boss, Jurgen Klopp has opened up on wanting to sign Jude Bellingham, Moises Caicedo, or Romeo Lavia during the summer transfer window last year.

The Reds were in search of a No6 and were linked with a series of players who fit the role but unfortunately couldn’t get their hands on the target as they all signed for different clubs.

Jude Bellingham, who was Liverpool’s number one target signed for Real Madrid, Moises Caicedo joined Chelsea, and former Southampton midfielder, Romeo Lavia also joined the Blues.

“We were interested in Bellingham and realised it would not happen. The whole market for No 6s went up. Two No 6s left our club. The market heated up,” Klopp told reporters.

“We thought we could maybe do Caicedo. We’d already done Mac Allister before. So we went in, he had an emotional agreement already with Chelsea and Pochettino. Then Lavia had his own reasons. So we were there,” he added.

Liverpool eventually signed four midfielders that season, including Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Ryan Gravenberch, who have all become an integral part of the team.

The Reds will return to Premier League action today with a home game against Chelsea and Caicedo.
