THE final lap of the World Cup Qualifying stage is set to take place at the end of the month with two African football power horses, Nigeria and Ghana, set to clash for a ticket to Qatar 2022.

The two countries' rivalry is not a new thing as it has ranged from not just football, but also to music, English fluency, and the best jollof rice.

The 32-year-old striker, Odion Ighalo, who has been named in the selection squad for the fixture, spoke on the football rivalry between the Black Stars of Ghana and the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

“You know the rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana. Because Ghana did not do well at the AFCON, they will want to bounce back so it is going to be a tough game; but Nigeria has what it takes to go through," he told ESPN.

“We just need to focus and work harder and let the game against Tunisia go. We have to play with confidence, we have to express ourselves and we have to give our best."

Ighalo was also part of the squad selected to represent Nigeria at the AFCON competition earlier this year, but could not make it because his former club, Al Shabab, was reluctant to release him.
