JOSE Peseiro's Assistant Coach during his time in charge of the national team, Finidi George will be in charge of the Super Eagles of Nigeria when they play Ghana and Mali in an international friendly later this month.
The Eagles were initially scheduled to face Argentina and El Salvador in the United States, but the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) cancelled those friendlies due to logistic issues.
To make up for it, the NFF agreed to a friendly against archrivals, Ghana on March 22 before squaring up against Mali four days later in Morocco.
Without a coach, Finidi George has been given the responsibility to lead the team in a match that would be their first since they lost the 2023 AFCON finals to Ivory Coast last month.
Recall that the NFF declared the position of the Eagles Head Coach vacant while announcing that a new tactician is needed. This could be an avenue for Finidi to prove himself, as he is among the coaches interested in the job.
