Despite the loss, Finidi believes his team performed well as he noted that the unavailability of two strikers forced them to change their tactics, which didn't work out well in the end.

“Losing two strikers forced us to play wide and as an aggressive team, we did all we could. And you know football is all about victory,” Finidi said in his post-match interview.

“Lost one and won one and we were not outplayed in the two matches gives me joy as a coach of the Super Eagles.

“I would have loved a different result in this game, but that’s not the case if we look at the performance of the players, it’s commendable.”

The players will now return to their respective clubs to continue the season while the NFF will continue the process of screening applicants who are interested in becoming the Head Coach of the Nigeria senior men's team.
