Edison Cavani to wear No. 7 for Manchester United

Manchester United late summer signed Edison Cavani, will be wearing the Number 7 shirt at Old Trafford after leaving PSG on a free transfer.

The 33-year-old player will be joining the list of Manchester United players to wear the Number 7 shirt. Cavani was confirmed on Tuesday night to wear the iconic number seven jersey, a number he has worn in his former clubs Palermo and Napoli, and also for the Uruguayan national team.

The shirt was last worn by Alexis Sanchez and was meant to have been for Jadon Sancho, should he had signed for Manchester United this summer following Sanchez' s permanent deal to Inter Milan.

The number 7 shirt is United most iconic number previously worn by legends such as George Best,  Eric Cantona and Cristiano Ronaldo, although the likes of Angel di Maria and Memphis Depay have worn the shirt and couldn't live up to their fans' expectations.

"It will give me great pride to wear the No 7 shirt for Manchester United now.  I am going to prepare for this responsibility, do my best to be ready and enjoy it. I hope to make my mark at Manchester United. I have two years contract with Manchester United and I want to give it my all here. I feel good", Cavani enthused.
