MANCHESTER City picked up their first trophy of the season as they held in to beat Sevilla 5-4 in a penalty shootout and win the UEFA Super Cup after the 90-minute game ended 1-1.

The UEFA Super Cup victory will be the first for the Manchester club, who have now won 15 trophies under Pep Guardiola since he took charge of the club in 2016, as they make up for their loss against Arsenal in the FA Community Shield final.

“You want to win everything anyway, but that gave us more of an urge. This club has never won it. It’s a brilliant feeling,” he added.

City, now with a trophy at hand, will switch focus to their next game on Saturday in the Premier League against Newcastle United, who are more than capable of cutting the citizens' celebration short.
