BARCELONA will not be playing their home games during the 2023-24 season at Camp Nou due to renovation work that will start in June.

Camp Nou who happens to be the biggest stadium in Europe with over 99000 capacity will begin its renovation work by the end of the season, a renovation that will see it renamed Spotify Camp Nou after the club struck a  sponsorship agreement with the streaming company in March.

The club released an official statement to confirm the news, which reads: "Renovation work on the Camp Nou, the epicentre of the Espai Barça project, will begin this June, as soon as the football season has ended, and in accordance with the building permit approved this morning.

"The work will focus on the first and second tier, technological aspects, the environs of the stadium, and exterior urbanisation.

"Actions inside the Camp Nou will include the demolition of the additional structure in the South Goal zone where the Medical Centre was located, restoration work, anti-carbonation and waterproofing of the stands, as well as structural finishes and the improvement and renovation of re-transmission systems."

The majority of the work will be done from the 2023/24 season which brings up a need for a temporary stadium. The Spain Olympic stadium which can house 56,000 spectators will be used from the 2023/24 season till the 2025/26 season when the renovation work  is expected to be completed.
