WITH the tournament now at its quarterfinal stage, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed the financial rewards for participating nations at the ongoing 2023 AFCON.
All 24 nations that partook in this year's edition are expected to receive a particular amount of money, which depends on the stage they reached before exiting the competition.
The winner of AFCON 2023 will take home $7 million for lifting the trophy. The runners-up will take home $4 million, while the two losing semi-finalists will each receive $2.5 million.
The four teams who lost in the quarterfinals will each receive $1.3 million. The eight teams knocked out in the Round of 16 will get $800,000 each for reaching the knockout stage.
Two teams who finished third in their Group but were unable to advance will receive $700,000 each, while the six teams that finished last in their groups got $500,000 each.
The quarterfinal stage of the tournament is set to kick off today.
