THE 2023 Africa Cup of Nations has reached the quarterfinal stage of the biennial competition, which is taking place in Ivory Coast.
Eight teams have reached the quarterfinals and would have to fight to make it to the semifinals and then advance to the finals of the competition and hopefully be crowned champions of Africa.
The eight teams who have qualified for the quarterfinals are Nigeria, Cape Verde, DR Congo, Angola, South Africa, Mali, Guinea, and the host nation Ivory Coast.
For the quarterfinals, Nigeria, who defeated Cameroon to reach the quarterfinals, will play Angola on Friday at 6 pm at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny. Later that day at 9 pm Dr Congo, will play Guinea at the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpé.
On Saturday at 9 pm, the Bafana Bafana of South Africa will play Cape Verde at Stade Charles Konan Banny de Yamoussoukro but that will be after the 6 pm match between Ivory Coast and Mali at the Stade Bouaké.
Surprisingly, none of the AFCON 2021 quarterfinalists are in the AFCON 2023 quarterfinals.
