LEICESTER CITY winger, Ademola Lookman, was among the players shortlisted to represent Nigeria at the world cup qualifier. This became the winger's first international call up for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Ademola who had featured for England underage side from 2016 to 2019 was quick to accept the request from Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, and interim manager, Augustine Eguavon, to come over to the Nigeria Football team.

Speaking on CAF official website, The 2017 FIFA U22 World Cup winner with England explains his decision for dumping the three lions of England for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

"I am very excited to be part of Nigeria's National team and I'm feeling blessed and looking forward to helping the team" he said

"Both my parents are Nigerians and I've always seen these [representing Nigeria] as a possibility. I came to Nigeria frequently when I was much younger.

"I am familiar with the people and built up a family here, so the switch from England to Nigeria is not an unusual one for me. I am glad I made the switch."

Ademola was able to make his debut appearance for the Super Eagles of Nigeria against Ghana from the bench when he was substituted in for Moses Simon in the 74th minutes of the goaless game.
