INTERNET DISRUPTION: MainOne gives fresh update on restoring internet services

MAINONE, a data centre and digital infrastructure company has disclosed that it has successfully restored internet services to some of its customers across West Africa.

According to media reports, MainOne had earlier disclosed that its preliminary investigation attributed the internet disruptions experienced by Telecoms and banks in Nigeria and some neighbouring countries, to an incident on its submarine cable systems offshore the coast of West Africa.8961

Recently, the company, in its update following the incident, disclosed that fixing the damaged undersea cable may last five weeks.

It stated that it secured a maintenance agreement with the Atlantic Cable Maintenance and Repair Agreement (ACMA) to provide repair services for the submarine cable.

But in a recent update, according to a report, the company disclosed that it was making efforts to restore services to others by utilising capacity acquired on available cable systems.8968

“We have restored services to some customers and are actively working on restoring services to others via capacity acquired on available cable systems.

“The estimated repair time is for our submarine cable fault to be fixed, to enable our services to become fully restored, and to independently supply capacity to our customers,” a statement by MainOne read.
