The residents also complained that the lack of proper drainage has made a lot of people fall sick, as the area has become mosquito-infested.

A female resident, Alhaja Bintinlaye, lamented that she always feels that Jezza and Adaranijo streets were not part of Alimosho Local Government. She thereby appealed to the government to come to the aid of the community.

She said: "We appeal to the government to take a look at the roads in Jezza and Adaranijo. It's as if we are not part of the Alimosho local government area of Lagos, from the way they treat us.

"All the other side (Akowonjo) is where they focus on construction. They have not constructed drainages in Jezza, there is no drainage constructed in Adaranijo

"Mosquitoes are terribly terrorising us. Yet, we perform our civic rights to the government. During elections, we all come out en masse to vote. If they call for tenement rate, we pay our levies promptly.

"Take a look at how all our roads look. The government has not yet fixed our roads in Jezza and Adaranijo.

"The government should please construct drainages for us in Jezza and Adaranijo. We strongly appeal to our government. Mosquitoes are seriously terrorising our children.

"All our children and grandchildren have been forced to relocate to Ajah because of mosquitoes. Children get ill here every day because of mosquitoes. Children who assist us here have been relocated.

Another resident, Mrs Kolawole appealed to the government to come to their aid. According to her, Jezza is an eyesore as there is no drainage system.

She said: "We appeal to them. We appeal to our government. The government should please help us fix this Jezza. This Jezza is an eyesore-- It's too dirty.

"There are no gutters. There is no drainage system that we can use conveniently. Everywhere is really, really dirty.

"We appeal to them to have mercy on us to help us fix all these roads. We plead with them for God's sake.

"Mosquitoes don't allow us to sleep here including, our children.

"Wastewater doesn't flow here. It's stagnant. Water so much overfills that gutter that we usually do not have where to pass through to go out.

"The road is always terrible when it rains. We usually have nowhere to pass."
