In line with the global call to eliminate cervical cancer in the State, the Executive Chairman, Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area, Hon. PrincessOlabisi Adebajo, in collaboration with the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, have set out on a Community Engagement on Eliminating Cervical Cancer.

The stakeholders' engagement which was tagged 2021 World Cancer Day commemoration, saw a host of stakeholders raise awareness about this terminal disease, encouraging women to rise to the occasion, spread the word, to tell their neighbours, families, friends and foes about the signs and symptoms of this common enemy called cervical cancer.

"As it has been said, 'prevention is better than cure'  and 'knowledge is power", Mosan Okunola boss said in her speech. She encouraged everyone to empower someone and even afterwards because the cervical cancer is an aftermath of ignorance and all hands must be on deck until every girl, every woman, no matter where they live, gets the HPV Vaccine so that they can have a good chance of staying healthy and achieving their dreams.

She applauded Dr Sanwo-Olu on her keen efforts at amplifying the ongoing statewide cervical cancer screening program, the laudable efforts of the Primary Health Care and the Ministry of Health in rolling out an ambitious goal to generate demand and screen 70,000 women through employing a strategy that leverages and expands on existing cervical screening from January to March 2021 in Lagos State.
