Healthcare Provision Fund: Mosan Okunola LCDA first to benefit from initiative

THE Basic Health Care Provision Fund was yesterday, May 20, flagged off at Rauf Aregbesola Primary Health Care Centre, Okunola, under the administration of Hon. Princess Olabisi Adebajo. and for the LCDA to be the first LCDA in Alimosho to benefit from the initiative.

The Health Care Provision Fund earmarks 1% of the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the federation for health care; the fund is aimed at providing more equitable and efficient health care financing so as to provide essential services to the most vulnerable members of the population. 

The first tranche of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund for Lagos State has been disbursed through the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), of which Mosan-Okunola LCDA's /Rauf Aregbesola Primary Health Centre is the first LCDA to benefit from the initiative.

Hon. Princess Olabisi Adebajo, Chairman, Mosan Okunola said in her speech  "Today, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, I am greatly honoured this morning to be here with you as part of this history-making; this event we are witnessing is the first of its kind in Nigeria and particularly taking place within our Local Council Development Area and in Lagos State.

"I sincerely appreciate the Lagos State Government team being ably represented here by the team leader the Hon Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, for their thoughtfulness and decision to bring the project to this Local Council as the starting point and particularly Rauf Aregbesola Primary Healthcare Centre being rated as top-10 standard Flagship Primary Health Centre in Lagos State".

She also congratulated others that were selected to benefit from the health care fund and implore them not to abuse the initiative.
