THE Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Alimosho constituency '01, Hon. Luqman Olatunji Orelope, alongside the delegation of the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, have inspected some selected drainages approved by the Lagos State Government for dredging and expansion to prevent flooding of some water-ravaged areas during the rainy season within the Mosan-Okunla LCDA.
While work on these drainages and canals is expected to start soon, Orelope said, "Dumping of refuse is a grave offence in Lagos state. I will find ways and means to meet with our community leaders to appeal to our people through them to stop dumping refuse into drainages and canals.
"The refuse is preventing the free flow of the water, which in turn creates hazards to our homes. We should help by living right; the Government cannot do everything for us. We must live responsibly as citizens.”
He added that these projects will be completed in a few months.
