A young man, Michael Ekundayo, was arrested by police operatives from the Lagos State Command for allegedly defiling a 4-year old girl.
It was reported that the incident happened at Ogunjebe Street, Dopemu area of Lagos, where they reside.
Police alleged that the suspect, Ekundayo, lured the little girl into his apartment, removed her underwear and defiled her before he was caught in the act.
He was handed over to the Police at Area G, Command, Ogba, Lagos. During interrogation, he was found culpable by the Police and was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrate's Court for the alleged offence.
The court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Mr H. Unah, asked the court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice because the victim was a minor.
Hence the Presiding Magistrate, Mr A.A. Fashola, ordered his remand in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri without an option of bail.
The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice, while Ekundayo would remain in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice.
The case was adjourned till October 15, 2020.
