THE Executive Chairman of the Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Comrade Akinsanya Lasisi Ayinde, has congratulated Mr Sanwo-Olu Babajide, the Governor of Lagos State, on his victory at the court of appeal.

Recall that on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, the court of appeal sitting in Lagos State dismissed an appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its Governorship candidate, Olajide Adeniran (Jandor). The panel dismissed the appeal for lacking merit.

As of the time of filing this report, the panel is reading the judgment on the appeal filed by the Labour Party (LP) and its Governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.

However, a three-man panel of the Election Petition Appeal sitting in Lagos affirmed the re-election of Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Kehinde Obafemi Hamzat as duly elected Governor and Deputy Governor of Lagos State.

“The Appeal Court decision stood for the vital proposition that the rule of law serves to protect the sovereign will of the people when expressed in free and honest elections.

“Congratulations to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Kehinde Obafemi Hamzat.

“By this judgment, the court clearly shows that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Kehinde Obafemi Hamzat, were the candidates whom the people of Lagos chose to pilot their affairs for the next four years.

“The confidence the people repose in the Sanwo-Olu administration has been well earned and should be wholly respected.

“Once again, I rejoice with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Kehinde Obafemi Hamzat, our teeming APC members in Igando-Ikotun, and, indeed, the good people of the State over this court victory,” Akinsanya said.

Akinsanya, in a congratulatory message on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, said the judgment delivered by the court of appeal affirms that the rule of law is meant to protect the will of the people in a free and fair electioneering process.
