Two die in Igando as over speeding driver loses control, runs into stationary PSP truck

A few weeks back, an accident, which claimed the lives of four people, occurred just two bus stops from this current location.

TWO persons have been confirmed dead in a fatal accident that happened at Unity Bus Stop, along Isheri-Igando Road, immediately after the Alimosho General Hospital, in the Igando-Ikotun LCDA of Alimosho LGA.

According to media reports, a Honda Civic car lost control from the other end of the road as a result of speeding and rammed into a stationary PSP truck packing refuse by the roadside at Unity.

The LASTMA Zonal Head in Isheri, Mr Afolalu Gbenga, who confirmed the accident, disclosed that two persons (pedestrian and passenger) died instantly in the accident that involved a PSP truck and Honda Civic car (black APP 79 HF) at Unity Bus Stop immediately after General Hospital.

Mr Gbenga confirmed further that the two dead accident victims were immediately handed over to the medical personnel of the Lagos State Ambulance Service.

The two vehicles (PSP truck & Honda Civic car) were removed from the road by LASTMA Officials in order not to cause serious impediment to the free flow of traffic in the area.

This incident has added to the number of reported cases of road accidents within the past two months in the Igando-Ikotun LCDA.

Recall that tragedy struck on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, in the Ikotun area of the Igando-Ikotun LCDA in the Alimosho LGA, as a fully-loaded container truck collided with three tricycles, locally called Keke Marwa and crushed one of them killing two people instantly while four others were rescued.

Similarly, on Monday, January 23, 2023, two ad-hoc female health workers and a man were killed in a road accident around Alhaji Ede Bus Stop, along LASU Road, Igando, in the Igando-Ikotun LCDA of Alimosho LGA at about noon.

Also, in a ranking done by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Alimosho accounted for the highest number of road accidents in 2022, with a total of 239 cases out of 1,682.
