THE Executive Chairman of Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Comrade Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya alongside the Vice-Chairman, Hon. Mojisola Ayinke Badmus, Secretary to Local Government, Comrade Alani Babatunde, Legislative arm, Supervising Councillors, and the Royal Kings of the council area graced the official launch of the Lagos State Resident Multipurpose Identity Card (LAG ID) on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at the D-Square Event Hall, Ikotun-Idimu Road.
According to media reports, the LAG ID is a rebranded new identification card for the residents of Lagos State and is powered by the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA). It is an upgrade of the former LASRRA cards already issued.
The new card which is renewable every five years contains a chip that has multipurpose uses and can be accepted anywhere in many places.
The importance of the LAG ID is to maintain a rich database of all residents, provision of data for social and welfare state interventions, issue multi-purpose smart cards to residents, improve efficiency in accessing LASG services, drive the Smart City agenda of the state government, and create opportunities for financial inclusion.
The LASRRA General Manager reiterated that the agency’s database, containing both demographic and biometric data, of all residents in Lagos State would henceforth aid effective planning and allocation of resources for security, education, health and financial Inclusion.
The project is financially pioneered by Sterling Bank.
