Days after elections, most shops in Egbeda, Obadore remain closed

THREE days after the February 25, 2023, general elections, some shops in Egbeda and Obadore, in the Egbeda-Akowonjo and Igando-Ikotun LCDAs of Alimosho LGA have remained shut.

Alimoshotoday's reporter who went around these areas observed that skeletal business activities took place at Egbeda, as some shops were also open, though experiencing low patronage.

However, in the Obadore market, shops were closed. Only a few food sellers displayed their goods at the entrance of the market.

It is unclear why the shops are still closed, and no trader was cited to comment, but it may not be unconnected to fears in the minds of non-indigenes following the declaration of Peter Obi as the winner of the presidential polls in the Alimosho LGA, and Lagos State in general.

Recall that there was panic yesterday across the state, with threats to deal with Igbos for voting Tinubu in Saturday's election.

The tense situation has, however, been surmounted, as soldiers have been cited in various areas to forestall any breakdown of law and order in the state.
