Alimosho records first rain in 2023, residents express delight

SOME parts of the Alimosho LGA in the early hours of today, Saturday, January 27, 2023, at about 08:13 am recorded the first rainfall of the year  2023.

The rain fell around Obadore, Akesan, Igando, Ikotun, Idimu and other LCDAs within the LGA.

The rains lasted for more than an hour, with places like Obadore experiencing more intensity than other areas.

However the situation, the dusty roads were well saturated with water and the environment became cool enough for residents to carry out their day-to-day activities.

A resident of Obadore was delighted about the rains, as she complained of the heat at night and the dust on the roads which she says makes her fall sick. The petty farmer was also elated as she adds that the rains signal the beginning of the planting season for her.

Meanwhile, during the past weeks across major roads in Alimosho, especially in Mosan-Okunola and Egbeda, men were seen clearing the gutters on the roads.

The wastes from the gutters reveal that most of the flooding along these routes may be because of the blocked drainage.

It is, however, expected that as the year progresses and the rains increase gradually in frequency and intensity, our roads will see a decline in flooding.
